Hospital ignores emergency buzzers |

THE wife of a terminally ill cancer patient has blasted East Lancashire Hospitals after she claims her husband was left in agony waiting to receive treatment. Carol Fielding, 48, said her husband Glyn, 43, lay in pain for 20 minutes waiting for treatment at the Royal Blackburn Hospital after pressing an emergency buzzer. The Royal Blackburn Hospital, now the only A&E serving all of East Lancashire, has seen an unprecedented number of patients through its doors since the controversial closure of A&E services at Burnley in 2007. Many patients, relatives and staff claim the sheer number of patients admitted to the Blackburn hospital has resulted in more instances of patient neglect and a lower level of patient care.
