'No confidence' in hospital chiefs

Image A DAMNING unanimous vote of no confidence in hospital bosses has been taken by councillors.
The vote, taken at last night's meeting of Burnley Borough Council, is yet another blow to the board of East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust which has suffered a public backlash since it stripped Burnley General Hospital of its accident and emergency department.

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust - which now runs both the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital  have been slammed for failing to recruit and maintain NHS nurses.
HOSPITAL bosses at the Trust have almost doubled their use of temporary staff because stressed out medical workers are leaving in droves. The trust have resorted to hiring temporary staff from private agencies costing anything between £30 and £100 an hour. Ordinary nurses cost only around £15 per hour to employ.
